Affirming Ministry

St. Martin's United Church in Saskatoon is an affirming ministry, dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone, particularly the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We take pride in being part of the Saskatoon Affirming Ministries network, actively participating in efforts that demonstrate our commitment to equality, inclusion, and justice.

As an affirming church, St. Martin's celebrates events like P.I.E. Day (Public, Intentional, Explicit) each March 14. This day is a unique opportunity to celebrate the full inclusion of LGBTQIA+ and Two Spirit people in faith communities and beyond across Canada.

We also actively participate in Saskatoon’s Pride Parade, joining with others to celebrate diversity and advocate for justice. Our congregation stands in solidarity with 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, providing a visible presence of support and allyship. In addition to these events, St. Martin's supports local programs and educational events focused on fostering understanding, love, and acceptance within the broader community.

We are home to Fruits of the Spirit which is ecumenical, faith-based community for LGBTQ2S+ spiritual seekers and allies. They believe the diversity of human sexualities, genders, races and abilities are a reflection of the divine image. They want everyone to know the truth of their beauty and belovedness. They gather every Sunday at 2pm at St. Martin’s United Church for about an hour for song, worship, faith discussion and support. Leadership is shared by members of several different denominations.

We welcome everyone to join us, whether at worship, events, or simply to connect with a community that celebrates each individual as a beloved part of God’s creation.
